Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) - In a significant crackdown on food adulteration, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) raided an illegal factory in Barabanki district on Saturday, where they uncovered more than 763 kg of adulterated tea leaves. The operation took place in the Baddupur area, specifically in Shahpur village, where officials found the hazardous products being manufactured.

During the raid, authorities not only seized the contaminated tea leaves but also discovered 3.9 kg of harmful coloring agents used in the production process. These chemicals pose serious health risks to consumers, raising concerns about food safety in the region.

In addition to the tea leaves and coloring agents, the STF confiscated a packing machine and approximately 149.5 kg of empty plastic wrappers bearing various brand names, indicating a larger scale of operation than initially anticipated. This suggests that the factory may have been supplying adulterated tea to multiple vendors, potentially endangering public health.

Following the raid, one individual was arrested in connection with the illegal operations. The STF has stated that they are continuing their investigations to identify any additional suspects and to determine the extent of the distribution network involved in this illegal trade.

The operation reflects the ongoing efforts of the UP STF to combat food adulteration and ensure consumer safety. Officials reiterated their commitment to maintaining strict vigilance against such illegal practices that endanger public health and safety.
