The event is scheduled to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 6 to 7, 2024.

The Global Dialogue on AI Governance was established under General Assembly Resolution 79/325, which emerged in the wake of the Global Digital Compact adopted as part of the Pact of the Future in September 2024. This initiative underscores the UN's commitment to address the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence on a global scale.

The Indian delegation, led by Minister Singh, will be among participants from various nations, organizations, and stakeholders. The aim is to develop a comprehensive governance framework that ensures the ethical use of AI while promoting innovation and protecting human rights. The External Affairs Ministry has emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation in navigating the complexities of AI technologies.

During the dialogue, Singh is expected to highlight India's unique perspective on AI governance, drawing from its advancements in technology and commitment to democratic values. He will also discuss India's initiatives to foster innovation while ensuring that AI applications remain aligned with societal needs.

As the world increasingly relies on AI across various sectors, the outcomes of this dialogue could be instrumental in shaping policies that govern AI development and deployment. The annual report from this forum will be crucial in tracking progress and identifying future challenges in AI governance.

Singh's participation reflects India's proactive approach in international discussions on emerging technologies, reinforcing its position as a leader in the global digital landscape. His engagement at the UN forum is anticipated to encourage dialogue among nations, emphasizing the necessity of a coordinated approach to AI governance.
