New Delhi, Jul 4: In a significant move against terrorism, the Union Home Ministry has officially designated 23 individuals based in Pakistan as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). This designation is part of ongoing efforts to combat the global menace of terrorism, particularly actions originating from across India’s borders.

The individuals identified have purported connections to notorious organizations such as Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba, both of which have been involved in numerous terrorist activities targeting India. The UAPA provides the central government the authority to designate an individual as a terrorist if they believe that person is involved in acts of terrorism.

According to the government order, this designation empowers the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to take stringent actions against these individuals. Such measures include blocking their financial resources, imposing embargoes on arms sales to them, and seizing any assets associated with their unlawful activities.
