Mumbai, Maharashtra – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the Mumbai and Thane regions as heavy downpours continue to affect the area. As of Thursday evening at 7 PM, the IMD's warning highlighted the severity of the situation, urging residents and officials to prepare for further rainfall and possible flooding.

As reported, the Ram Mandir area recorded an impressive 206.5 mm of rainfall by 5:30 PM, making it one of the hardest-hit locations. Other areas also experienced significant rain, including Vikhroli with 188 mm, Santacruz at 164.1 mm, and Vidyavihar reporting 126 mm of rainfall. The persistent rains have led to numerous incidents of waterlogging across the city.

The impact of the heavy rainfall has been felt throughout Mumbai, with transportation and daily life disrupted in many places. Notably, Byculla and Colaba reported 70.5 mm and 70.2 mm of rainfall, respectively, further contributing to the flooding concerns. Key streets like the Andheri Subway and Senapati Bapat Marg in Matunga have faced considerable waterlogging, prompting warnings from local authorities.

Officials are urging residents to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel during this period. The IMD has indicated that the heavy rains may continue, with potential for more alerts if conditions worsen.
