Hyderabad's ongoing fight against food adulteration has gained significant momentum, as the Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) announces the seizure of 121 tonnes of adulterated food within a span of just 100 days. This initiative, which aims to safeguard public health, has seen H-FAST register 185 cases against food adulterators, highlighting the critical issue of food safety in the region.

As part of their efforts, H-FAST has received an average of 15 complaints daily from citizens concerned about unhealthy food supplies in local hotels and markets. The constant influx of reports underlines the public's increasing awareness and vigilance regarding food quality and safety standards. Responding to these concerns, the authorities have intensified their surveillance operations to crack down on the adulteration networks.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "Preventive Detection (PD) measures will be invoked against those involved in the adulteration mafia." This stern warning is part of a broader strategy to deter such criminal activities that pose serious health risks to consumers.

H-FAST, a dedicated wing established specifically to combat food fraud, has made significant strides since its formation. Their operations are not just about seizing adulterated products; they also aim to educate the public about food safety and the potential hazards of consuming contaminated goods.
