The directive issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) comes in response to increasing reports regarding unexpected stoppages and operational failures of e-rickshaw vehicles linked to these applications. The government’s intervention aims to safeguard the livelihoods of e-rickshaw drivers and ensure the reliability of this vital mode of urban transport.

Sources within the government revealed that the decision was made following a series of assessments and complaints from e-rickshaw operators. We cannot allow any applications to jeopardize the operational integrity of e-rickshaws,” a spokesperson for MeitY stated.
