Bengaluru is rapidly establishing itself as the epicenter of young entrepreneurial talent in India, according to Priyank Kharge, Karnataka's Minister of Home, e-Governance, Electronics, IT & BT. The city boasts an impressive 21 entrepreneurs featured on the Avendus Wealth - Hurun India U30 List for 2026, a significant rise from just seven the previous year.

Minister Kharge attributed this surge to Bengaluru's evolving startup ecosystem, which is increasingly leaning towards DeepTech and hardware innovations. This transformation reflects a broader trend within India's startup landscape, where young founders are pivoting away from traditional software models in favor of more complex technological solutions.

“Bengaluru has always been a hub of innovation, but the recent focus on DeepTech indicates a maturation of our startup culture,” Kharge remarked during a recent press conference. He emphasized that such advancements not only enhance the city’s reputation but also contribute to the national economy by fostering high-tech jobs and attracting global investments.

The rise of these young entrepreneurs showcases the diverse potential within Bengaluru's startup scene. The city has historically been known for its IT prowess, but the increasing prominence of hardware-focused ventures signifies a crucial shift. Many of these startups are now tackling challenges across various sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, and renewable energy.

According to industry experts, this shift towards hardware and DeepTech is vital for sustaining long-term growth in India's technology sector. With Bengaluru leading this charge, it sets a benchmark for other cities aiming to cultivate a similar entrepreneurial spirit.

As Bengaluru continues to nurture its startup ecosystem, stakeholders are optimistic about the future. The government’s supportive policies, coupled with an innovative mindset among the youth, are seen as driving forces behind this evolution in the startup narrative.

With an eye towards maintaining this momentum, Kharge expressed a commitment to further enhancing infrastructure and support systems for startups in the region. “We are dedicated to creating an environment where innovation can thrive and young entrepreneurs can realize their visions,” he concluded.
